Solve Problems related to Work
How do you solve problems related to work activities?
Giving assessments to the students is one of my problems as a teacher. I should consider many aspects to make sure that my assessments are relevant for the students, and connected to the objectives.
I solved this kind of problem through 3 effective skills:
- Be Updated. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you keep scrolling on social media, give yourself time to be curious about what’s trend, or do proper research about what’s going on around the country, and in the world. Being updated on the trend helps me think of creative ideas to make my students interested in the lesson, and activities.
- Thorough research. There is so much information scattered on different internet platforms. By researching thoroughly, we can ensure the factual information we can get. Being a thorough researcher, helps me see the authenticity of the information and facts that I can share with the class.
- Spark interest. Learning is not hard for the student if we can secure their interest. Combining timely trends in keeping yourself updated, and being a thorough researcher to secure factual information, helps me to spark interest in my assessment for the students.
What is an example of a problem-solving work team?
The video focused on the Why Tree Method which directly implies the problem-solving work team, I connected the ideas from the video and researched timely information that expanded the explanation of the use of the Why Tree Method.
There are examples of a problem-solving work team like team formation, problem identification, solution generation, decision making, implementation and monitoring, and evaluation and learning.
The one that aligns with the timely and relevant information that I needed is the Solution Generation. Since there’s a generational gap between my students and my generation as a teacher, I can truly understand that there are many possibilities that I could mend the gap.
Can you give me an example of a difficult problem you solved at your workplace?
One of the hardest parts of being a teacher is making sure that the assessments for the students align with the objective of the lesson, and are relevant to the generation’s interest in activities.
Some of my co-teachers in my subject area are having a hard time solving this kind of problem. That’s why I shared my 3 effective skills which are being updated on the trends, conducting thorough research about information regarding the lesson, and making sure that the trends and research information could spark the interest of the students.
Our subject area also applies the method of solution generation, wherein we do brainstorming to encourage open discussion and creative thinking to generate a wide range of potential solutions; we also do the evaluation, for us to assess the feasibility, effectiveness, and potential risks of each solution.
